As the pandemic crisis continues to rage on in some regions around the world, much of the news from India in particular sounds disheartening. Reportedly, many of the country’s medical facilities are overwhelmed with the healthcare system experiencing grave shortages of oxygen, life support equipment, and other essentials. It seems the country’s health care system has been pushed to its absolute limits.
With offices in India, many members of our team have been personally impacted by the coronavirus, and we have all witnessed its devastating effects. When we learned there was an organization making makeshift covid care clinics for the rural communities that have been particularly hard hit, we knew we had to help.
Save the Liver Foundation’ is a nonprofit organization that started the initiative in Andhra Pradesh State. Upon seeing devastation from the virus in rural India where medical necessities are in even more limited supply, they began raising funds to construct temporary clinics to care for covid patients.
Each clinic offers non-critical medical access for the local villages and features the following:
- Beds for up to 100 patients
- Trained doctors and nurses
- Daily counseling
- Ambulance services
- Collaborative access to Urban hospitals to transfer patients needing ICU admission, critical care, or oxygen supply greater than 4 liters per minute
- Network of laboratory access for tests and results
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner, nutritional juices and other foods served daily to patients
- Daily cleaning and sanitation (inside and outside the clinics)
- Hazardous waste collection and disposal

Currently, there are two clinics in operation and approvals are underway for a third. The organization plans to keep all three open for three months. The clinics offer oxygen, covid-specific treatments, as well as traditional medical supplies, medicines and technologies, like pulse oximeters, thermometers, blood pressure monitors, and IV dosage equipment.
In an effort to support our Indian brothers and sisters and their loved ones, EPSoft made a donation this June to help pay for the construction and ongoing costs for these clinics.
“It’s always sad to hear about devastation. But when it hits so close to home, it stirs up an urgency to help in some way,” says our own CEO Gopal Parvathaneni. Unfortunately, Gopal’s words ring true for several EPSoft team members, many of whom live near some of the hardest hit areas. “If our contribution can make a difference in just one family’s life, it’s worth it”, he added.
The pandemic has touched all of us in some way. If you are able and are moved to do so, you can also make a donation through this GoFundMe page, which has been set up on behalf of the Save The Liver organization.
